Application of the tuition

To assure a maximum of transparency about the application of the tuition, the  concept of tuition application (in German, PDF 565 KB) is published. In the study terms SS 2007 and WS 2007/08 the following activities will be undertaken with high priority:

  • Expansion of the tutor programs: To ensure an optimal and individual support of all students, the funding for the personnell of the tutor programs will be raised. Employing students in the tutor programs will improve their soft skills and offers them a chance for re-financing their tuition.
  • Introduction of a quality consultant: Because of the increased level of responsibility, which comes with the introduction of tuition, an institutionalized quality management will be established. Quality measures will be coordinated centrally.
  • Establishment of an »Infopoint«: A central information point for general, organizational questions will be installed. If possible, informational needs will be served immediately. A competent advice or, at least information about the right contact person will be given.
  • Support for the Dean of Academic Affairs: By increasing the staff of the office for Academic Affairs. Next to direct support of the Dean of Academic Affairs, further actions will be taken to improve the service to the students.
  • Improvement of Academic Advice: The office for Academic Advice will receive further staff. Personal advice will be offered during regular hours at least once a day, even more often during busy times.
  • Improvement of the so-called »Introductory Days«: T-Shirts and food stamps for the tutors will be financed.
  • Improvement of the preparation of course notes: Course notes will be provided by the lecturer before lectures. Students will be responsible to collect them and convert them into printable form. The office hours for script sale will be extended.
  • Teaching award: An award for outstanding teaching will be given each semester.
  • »Students meet Professors« initiative: Regular off-lecture meetings of students and professors.
  • Increased inclusion of students in R&D projects: Further funding to employ students will be given to the department chairs. Advantages for the students are: an opportunity to gain experience in teaching and research—and a chance for re-financing the tuition.
  • Increased internationalization: The activities are supposed to support study abroad opportunities for our students as well as to improve the integration of foreign students at TUM.
  • Individual mentoring: Once each semester, students of all study programs will receive the opportunity to consult with a professor or senior employee about their further study path.
  • Increased library stock: Standard publishings will be offered in greater numbers.
